A real wood floor, fitted to suit the subfloor
Engineered wood combines a real timber surface with a stable, layered core, making it suited to a wider range of subfloors than solid wood. Dublin Surface Works checks the base and room to confirm the right fitting method, whether floated, glued or secret-nailed.

The exposed base is checked and levelled where needed before the engineered boards are laid.

What's the difference between engineered and solid wood flooring?
Engineered wood has a real timber top layer bonded to a stable layered core, which generally handles subfloor movement and, in some cases, underfloor heating better than solid wood.
Can engineered wood go over underfloor heating?
Many engineered products can, subject to checking the specific product's heat tolerance and fitting method during the survey.
Does engineered wood need to be finished on site?
Some products arrive pre-finished; others are fitted unfinished and site-sanded and coated. We'll confirm which applies to your chosen product.
Can you fit herringbone or parquet patterns?
Yes, subject to checking the product and room during the survey, as patterned layouts can affect fitting time and material quantities.
Can engineered wood be fitted over an existing floor?
In some cases, subject to checking the existing floor's height, level and condition.
