Door Painting: good to know
Do doors need to be taken off their hinges?
Not always. It depends on the door, access and finish required — this is confirmed during the survey.
Can you paint over varnished doors?
Yes, subject to sanding and priming the surface first so the new paint adheres properly.
Will the house be without doors during painting?
If a door is removed, it's usually only for part of the working day. We'll agree the approach and timing with you first.
Do you paint door frames as well?
Yes. Frames can be quoted together with doors, or see our separate frame painting page.
How long before a painted door can be used again?
This depends on the paint used, but we'll advise on drying and handling times so the finish isn't damaged.
